Neogenyx Fuels, the Ameresco-majority biofuels JV with HASI, broke ground August 26 on its first agricultural RNG facility at Adams Land & Cattle in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Eight digesters target more than 4,400 SCFM of biogas and about 1.2 million MMBtu of pipeline RNG a year, with Neogenyx owning the plant and Adams supplying manure. Versus dairy digester clusters that dominate manure RNG, listed energy capital treats a large beef feedlot as baseload feedstock, forcing Midwest yards to decide if manure stays a disposal cost.
Kargo Deploys AI Automated Receiving at Lineage's Decatur Poultry Warehouse
Kargo, an AI vision startup for inventory capture, and Lineage put automated receiving live at Lineage's Decatur, Alabama warehouse that serves adjacent poultry plants. Camera towers log SKU and lot data into Lineage's WMS, covering more than 64,000 receipts in six months at a site handling more than 500 pallets a day. Against manual scan-and-key receiving still standard in cold chain, the stack frees inbound labor and sets a template for other poultry-adjacent warehouses as automated load scanning follows in Decatur.
Nofence Launches N3 Cattle Collar as Virtual Fence Becomes Herd Platform
Nofence, the Norway-based virtual fencing company expanding in the US and Europe, launched its N3 cattle collar on September 2 for containment plus behavior, health, and reproductive alerts. Collars use cellular and HerdNet mesh now, with satellite-ready hardware and connectivity marketed for spring 2027 against field operations that lack reliable cell coverage. Versus Halter's multi-billion virtual-fencing raise, Nofence is selling the phone screen ranchers open daily, which pushes pure containment vendors to add animal-level analytics or lose that morning workflow.
Turnkey Financial Launches Next-Generation Feedyard Accounting Software
Turnkey Computer Systems, the Animal Health International subsidiary for cattle-industry software, released Turnkey Financial as an integrated Windows platform for feedyard receivables, payables, feed payable, and general ledger. The upgrade adds multi-site reporting, lot dashboards, PDF and CSV exports, and 1099 automation for operators reconciling packer checks across yards in the US and Canada. Against fragmented feedyard ledgers and generic ERP that never learned cattle lots, the launch deepens AHI's lock-in where feedyards actually close the books.
USDA Launches Ranchers First Heifer-Retention Insurance to Rebuild Scarce Cattle Herd
Secretary Brooke Rollins announced the BRAND endorsement for Livestock Risk Protection, letting producers insure the opportunity cost of keeping a heifer for breeding over two years against slaughter value. The package builds on June's up-to-$500 million SPUR support for independent regional beef slaughter and answers a US cattle herd at a 75-year low. Versus price insurance alone, BRAND plus SPUR aim to keep breeding stock on ranch while contesting packer concentration, stretching herd rebuild timelines for Tyson, JBS, and Cargill.
